Story of RockCC

History: Established November 2003

What started as a prayer meeting quickly grew into a new church solely focused on preaching Jesus Christ. We believe that we are called by God to teach the Bible "line upon line" and to equip our church family to love God and serve Him in a way that demonstrates His love to people. Over the years, we've been blessed to have many homes in the Yorba Linda area to hold Weekend Services. Now, we're grateful to own a church home in Anaheim Hills where we continue holding fast to teaching God's Word and the saving message of Jesus Christ.

Pastor John Werhas (Founding Pastor, 2003–2015)

Pastor John Werhas founded The Rock Community Church in 2003 with a clear conviction to center the church on the faithful teaching of God’s Word. Over the years, as they met in multiple locations, he led the church with a steady commitment to Scripture and making disciples. Drawing from his background with the Los Angeles Dodgers and as a chaplain to professional sports teams, he brought connection and a deep pastoral heart to the early foundation of the church.

Pastor Mark McGrath (Senior Pastor, 2015–2019)

Pastor Mark McGrath became Senior Pastor in 2015, guiding the church through a key season of leadership transition. He helped strengthen and continue the church’s mission during a time of change, ensuring its commitment to biblical teaching and discipleship remained central. His leadership provided stability and continuity as the church moved forward.

Pastor Drew Hunsley (Lead Pastor, 2020–Present)

Pastor Drew Hunsley joined the church staff in 2019 and became Lead Pastor in 2020. Under his leadership, The Rock has continued its historic commitment to faithful Biblical teaching while stepping into a new season of growth and ministry. He leads with a focus on equipping the church to live out its faith in everyday life and to continue making disciples.
